Steele Creek Marina has been under "new" management for a couple of years and the new owners are working hard, and doing a great job, as they upgrade and improve both the marina and campgrounds.
I made a deal over the phone for a 1-night houseboat rental with the pleasant young woman taking my reservation. Once we showed up the following week and spent an hour or so loading the boat, a large and agitated man came over, and without so much as a greeting, informed me that I owed them another $275 since there was a 2 night minimum and he'd do me a favor by splitting the difference with me. When I told him that it wasn't the deal that I committed to and that his employees should be familiar with their own policies before entering into a verbal agreement, he very rudely told me to "take a hike buddy" within plain earshot of my guests, their kids, and my 2 year old son. He made it very clear that he wasn't happy about us enjoying the weekend on their boat. Well, "taking a hike" was out of the question since we were already committed to a weekend event on the lake, were hosting guests at another campground, and had no other alternatives for lodging. I took the high road and made as if this was agreeable, but I would never, never, never consider doing business with these pricks again.
The new management is very friendly and from everything I'm seeing and hearing doing a fantastic job.
First class facility. Many recent upgrades and constant improvements daily! Glad that we are back.
So excited that Steele Creek Marina and Campground is under new management! The owner Charles, his family, and the staff are knowledgeable and willing to help in any way. New management began cleaning-up, updating, and repairing the marina and campground areas this past spring. I can't wait to see what they've done during the off-season. There are activities to please every member of the family. My personal favorite, kayaking; However, Donna's pancakes come in for a close second. I would highly recommend to anyone who visits Kerr Lake!
